Tracktor Beam is a fun fast action packed game. Tracktor Beam is a unique game. It has very addictive gameplay. It is built with extension in mind, level and world editors are sure to come out. They will allow new graphics, new sounds, new enemies, new bonuses, new blocks with new tricky puzzels.
What is expected of you:
This game is not crippled nor has any features been removed. We rely on your honesty! If you like it then pay for it, if not tell me why not and then pay for it. Note Tracktor Beam is quite hard to get the hang of but can be rewarding. Alot of time and effort has gone into making this game.
How to play + detail of game:
The main aim of the game is to ferry objects (mainly crates) from one location to another. You do this by using your tracktor beam to drag them about. You use the change selection keys normally z and x, to select which object to tractor. If the object you have selected has to be moved before you complete the level a green arrow will appear in the top right of the place you have to move it to. If you are able to keep the object/s in their finishing locations for a short while the level will finish.
The object is shown top right of the screen in the information bar to the right of it is a bar indicating its health. The information bar also has two long bars that show your fuel and health. To the left is the current best time, the par time, your score and your time.
The control will depend on the type of ship you use, for the directional ship the left, right, up and down keys (normally the arrow keys) will control repective thrusters, for the rotational ship the left and right keys rotate it and the up key powers the main thruster.
The length and strength of the tracktor beam will depend on the level, these will effect how things react when tracktored. Your ships mass and the objects mass will also effect how it reacts.
Completing level 30:
Every time you complete a level with a better time than the set times the level best time score will go bright green. After all of the first 29 levels have been beaten you will get an extra bonus and be able to complete level 30.
Menu commands:
Q - Quits
O - Open Game
S - Save Game - during a game, saves in that time frame - at the end of a level, it will save at the start of the next level
A - Abort life - end life and try again
E - End game - ends game, game over
P - Pause/unpause
; - Options
Tips:
The difficulty settings make a lot of difference, to shield strength, fuel consumption and health.
Mastering the tracktor beam is the key to the game.
With enemies you can tracktor, you can bang them into walls to destroy them.
If your shield hits zero then a noise of smashing glass is heard.
This also happens to objects, don't let it happen to vital objects that need to be moved.
Watch out for your fuel and your shield.
The ships fuel and shield levels are not the same for every level, ditto for objects.

Purchasing:
Tracktor Beam is shareware, and as such if you continue to use it for more than 30 days you should pay the $10 license fee.
Paying for Tracktor Beam is fairly simple. Open the Register program that accompanies Tracktor Beam. Enter your name, your email address, and the number of single user licenses you desire for Tracktor Beam you wish to purchase. Save or Copy or Print the data from the Register program and send the data and payment to Kagi. More specifics on the Register program to follow. Kagi handles my payment processing.
If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the data to Kagi. Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number is +1 510 652-6589. You can either Copy the data from Register and paste into the body of an email message or you can Save thedata to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number.
Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgement when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgement.
If you are paying with Cash or USD Check you should print the data using the Register application and send it to the address shown on the form, which is:
Kagi
1442-A Walnut Street #392-QGB
Berkeley, California 94709-1405
USA
You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD checks is around USD 15 per check and that is just not practical.
If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the Register program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment.
Kagi can not invoice your company, you need to act on my behalf and generate the invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end.
Please do not fax or email payment forms that indicate Cash, Check or Invoice as the payment method. As far as we know, there is still no technology to transfer physical objects via fax or email and without the payment, the form cannot be processed.
Payments send via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.
If you live in the United Kingdom you can send your registration money (cash or cheques, but NO credit cards) for £5 made payable to William Thimbleby to:
